We look forward to a mutually rewarding relationship with you. In order that our
business runs smoothly we feel that an effective system of communication is
required:
You need a reliable message system. Because notice for auditions are often on the same day as the audition or very last minute, a cell phone with voice mail is the best option.
Please do not use a roommate, spouse, or friend to take your messages. They may not be reliable and could cause you to miss important auditions and information.
Keep a pencil and writing paper right by your telephone, so you are ready to write everything down when we call. Don’t trust your memory!
Please confirm all auditions calls as soon as you receive our message. Do not wait to call us back until the next day. A simple reply to the audition email is all that is necessary. If you are unable to make an audition, let us know immediately! We must notify the casting director of all cancellations as soon as possible.
If you are calling after business hours to confirm an audition please utilize our voicemail system. Be sure to leave: 1) Your full name, 2) The name of the person you are calling, and 3) The name of the project you are calling about. You may also confirm by email to confirm@rpmtalent.com.
Please DO NOT leave messages on our emergency message number. Our emergency message numbers are for casting directors only. Do not use it for messages concerning auditions or for any other reason other than a major crisis. Emergency message number: (323) 833-8753.
If you are unavailable for any reason (sick, vacation, working, whatever) please book out with us as soon as you know so we don’t waste the casting directors’ or our time submitting you on jobs that you are not available to work. One of the worst things you can do as an actor is not show up for an audition. It makes you look extremely unprofessional and it reflects very poorly on us as an agency. So if you cannot make an audition for any reason, please be sure to call us before the scheduled time of your audition.
WAYS THAT YOU CAN HELP THE AGENCY SAVE TIME
CONFIRM YOUR APPOINTMENTS
It saves us valuable time when we do not have to make a second phone call out to confirm you for your auditions. Ideally, confirmations should be made by email to confirm@rpmtalent.com. If you are unable to respond during business hours, leaving messages on the voicemail at night or over the weekend is fine.
ASK OUR ASSISTANTS FOR ASSISTANCE
If you have a simple message to pass or question to ask, please allow our assistants to help you when it is possible. They are instructed to never give an answer unless they are absolutely sure of it, and to always confirm it with us as well. Please do not interpret this as your agents being inaccessible. We try to be available to discuss important or personal matters. This request only applies to those situations in which an assistant is able to help you, therefore providing us with more time to focus on more important issues - getting you auditions!
CALL IN THE AFTERNOON
The morning is the most important and busy time of day for both agents and assistants. We are submitting online, putting together hardcopy submissions and making pitch calls to casting directors. For this reason, we are requesting that only phone calls that need immediate attention be made in the morning hours (9AM - 2PM). Otherwise, please use the afternoon hours (3PM -6PM) for all other phone calls when we will have the best opportunity to address your call.
UNEXPECTED OFFICE VISITS
If you need to drop off photos or any other items, please give us a call to set up a specific time. We set a very specific schedule of events for each day and it is important for us to maintain that schedule. Although it may seem like a 5-10 minute unexpected visit would have a limited effect on our day, it does. When you combine the time of each day's unexpected visits, it really does have an effect on our productivity.
OTHER POINTS:
We are aware of the fact that some actors have access to the breakdowns and LA Casting listings that are intended to only be sent to agents and managers. Although we cannot stop you from reviewing these casting notices, we ask that you not identify roles that you think you are right for and request us to submit you for them. Please know that we will always submit you on every role that you are right for. Unless you have a specific reason for pointing out a particular project/role (ie: you went to college with the director), we ask you to refrain from this.
We need everyone to book out with us whenever you need to be taken off the schedule. We ask that you do so THREE DAYS before you are leaving and on the day you return. It is quick and easy, just send an email to bookout@rpmtalent.com.
All audition notices will be sent to you via email to the address we find on LA Casting. These audition notices will be sent from the account confirm@rpmtalent.com. We will call to notify you that an audition notice has been sent, at which point it is your responsibility to check your email for all of the information. It is also your responsibility to maintain an active and reliable email account to which we can send your audition notices. Once you have done this, it is important that you email or call to confirm your audition.
IMPORTANT: The emailed auditions will usually have the window for your role and the casting directors telephone number listed, however you are to NEVER contact the casting director’s office directly. Likewise, do not make use of the window without first contacting us. Non-compliance with this request is a serious violation of our agency policies and will result in your immediate removal from the client roster.
Most auditions are set up on very short notice - often the same day, so you need to be prepared.
All auditions are emailed to you via confirm@rpmtalent.com. You will be notified by phone that there is an audition waiting for you in your inbox.
Check your voice mail frequently (at least every 2 hours). Be sure to check at the end of the day in case there is a last minute audition or other information you need for the first thing the next morning.
Keep supplies in your car. (Changes of clothes, make-up, pictures & resumes)
Make notes on each audition. (Product, what you wore, character, if a commercial audition, and anything else you might find useful so you will be ready for a callback).
Bring pictures and resumes to EVERY audition.
If you have a product conflict when called for a commercial audition, let us know…you should not go! A conflict means you have a commercial running in the same region for a similar, competitive product, or if you are receiving holding fees for one.
BE ON TIME! Better yet, be early. Call us immediately if you are going to be late or cannot make it.
The majority of our submissions are made electronically. Electronic online submissions offer casting directors and talent agents the ability to access electronic breakdowns, submissions, sides, talent search, audition scheduling and other online services. You are REQUIRED to have your images on both of the following services.
L.A. Casting will upload your first picture for free. Any additional images are $25 for the first and $10 for each additional image. We HIGHLY suggest you put several images of our choice on your online account. The variety gives us the ability to submit you on a range of projects. Contact L.A. Casting at (323) 462-8200.
Breakdown Express will upload two images for free. Each additional image is $10. Breakdown Express also offers a “sides” service for an additional fee. All theatrical clients MUST have access to this service. We will NOT be able to email you sides due to time restraints. Contact Breakdown Express at (310) 276-9166.
IMPORTANT TASK
When you are creating your online resume for LA Casting, we want you to create TWO PERSONALIZED NOTES about yourself within the “SPECIAL SKILLS” section. Each note has to be under 125 characters and should mention important selling points about yourself. We copy and paste these notes under your photo to highlight your accomplishments when we make an electronic submission.
ex: Quirky, comedic and talented – recent credits/appearances: Scrubs, 21/2 Men, etc.
ex: Excellent theatrical experience – recent credits: ER, Law& Order, CSI
ex: Amazing athlete – Division I football, track – golden gloves boxer
REMEMBER – this helps us to SELL you – so input as many important selling points as you can!
SPEED REEL
LA Casting and Breakdown Services allow you to upload a ‘speed reel’ onto your account. A speed reel is a extremely useful tool in presenting your abilities to casting directors, which will lead to more appointments. We highly recommend that you post your demo reel on both sites.
Pictures and resumes are very important tools. If you are planning to shoot new pictures, talk to us first, and let us see your proofs before you blow anything up! When we run low on pictures, we will call to notify you that we need more. Please supply us promptly with at least 30 pictures and resumes stapled back to back and 8 x 10 in size - NO EXCEPTIONS. Remember, if we have no pictures to submit, you will be left out! Most of our submissions are done on line but we still need hard copies for the office and you need hard copies to take to auditions. Resumes should NEVER contain your personal contact information. It should only list your agency and/or management contact info.
Passport
Make sure that you have valid passport. Many films and commercials are shot abroad and you must be ready to travel on very short notice.
